Houston Rockets sign Aaron Brooks and Reggie Williams

The Houston Rockets have completely transformed their organization over the past year as they've gone from a stockpiler of assets to a team that was able to flip assets to bring in one of the best scorers in the league and eventually attract Dwight Howard to agree to sign with them during free agency. They're now an offensive juggernaut that has one of the best defensive centers of this generation.
After the signing of Howard, the next step is to round out the roster with more role players to enhance the system and the attack of the team. For a team that was all about perimeter offense and fast-paced action, it seems only natural that they'd go after guys who can score. The Rockets announced they've re-signed Aaron Brooks to a one-year deal and signed unrestricted free agent Reggie Williams to a multi-year deal. From the Rockets:
Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has re-signed guard Aaron Brooks to a one-year deal and have inked unrestricted free agent guard Reggie Williams to a multi-year contract.
Brooks was waived by the Rockets before the free agency period began on July 1 in order to clear cap space (roughly $1.3 million) to go after Howard. He'd likely be the backup to bothJeremy Lin and Patrick Beverley this season and possibly be a small shooting guard option at times because of his ability to score. Brooks played his first 3.5 seasons with the Rockets before being traded to the Phoenix Suns in 2010-11. He played the entire 2011-12 season in China before splitting time with the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets last season.
Williams is a very talented wing scorer, who has excelled at times in a reserve role before. After playing his first two seasons with the Golden State Warriors, Williams signed with theCharlotte Bobcats and played there the last two seasons. He hardly played at all for the Bobcats last season, averaging 3.7 points in 9.5 minutes in 40 games.
