I dont think Yao is a player whose fame exceeds his skills. Even Shaq suggested on TNT that he might be the best center on the low block. Earlier in his career you can argue that he was overhyped, but as the years wore on and the hype gradually died down, we see that Yao has continually improved through hard work and preserverance. He is right now without doubt the best pure center in the league, there is no hype involved in that statement. BTW the Rockets picked Yao because he was the guy who enjoyed tyhe most potential in the draft. A 7ft6 player with good agility and mobility for his size, a good frame that can hold plenty of weight, strong lower body, and a very soft shooting touch. That was the main reason he got drafted. Back to the topic, I think right now in sbl, Wu Tai Hao has the most potential to leave for the NBA. If he keeps on working on his low post skills, increaese his shooting range, and work on his mobility he might have a chance as a hustle player, like Udonis Haslem.
