if you were lebron would you be really happy if you eventually win the ring but average just 20 points in the final? even though you keep telling people afterward how good a job you did on the defensive end?
Scoring is often the most overrated stat. Players like Kidd, Ben Wallace impact games without scoring. There're also players like Peja, Barea, Allan Houston etc who score but give little or nothing to the team. Fans love scoring, while coaches know defense wins the championship, and deploy team-balls instead of hero-balls.
LeBron is playing team-ball. He rebounds, assists, steals ball, blocks shots, AND scores. There's nothing he can't do in the game. Just like Dirk has taken fewer and fewer 3's through his career and known more and more how to win games. With better teammates in Miami, LeBron doesn't have to score a ton to win games. Did Magic Johnson have to take every shot when his teammates were Kareem, Worthy, Cooper, and Scott?
