Wu Tai Hao (202-C-85), the first Taiwanese basketball attending 4-year college in the U.S. in recent years, is expected to play in the NCAA Division-II postseason, something he couldn't do last year as a freshman, with his BYU-Hawaii teammates.
The 6-9 forward finished his sophomore season with the Seasiders averaging 10.6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.6 blocks per game, up from 8.9 points and 3.2 rebounds last season when he was named Freshman of the Year in the Pacific West Conference (PWC).
Wu shot 48.9% from the field, 36.7% from three and 82.5% from the foul line. He was second on the team in scoring, behind Lucas Alves, a 6-9 freshman from Brazil. Wu also was named the PWC Player of the Week in the first week of the season.
And BYU-Hawaii, coached by Ken Wagner, finished the season 20-7, including 12-3 in the PWC. The seasiders were ranked 7th in the latest Div-II West Reginal poll. As the top eight teams in the final regional poll make the tournament, BYU-Hawaii should be going to the tourney this year.
Div-II regional tournament will be played from March 9-12, while the Div-II national tournament will be played from March 21-24.
